BASE Australia

(Formerly PIPS)

The BASE assessment is a child-friendly, on-entry assessment which can help teachers understand each child’s level of knowledge and ability, right at the start of their school life.

BASE captures baseline data at the beginning of the year, supplies data on the expected and actual progress of a student at the end of the year, and provides the classroom teacher with concrete evidence on the spread of abilities within a class.

Each assessment takes between 15 and 20 minutes, and student responses are recorded into BASE by the teacher using the computer and a mouse.
