Who uses PIPS

Which countries use PIPS?

PIPS is used in:

  • Australia
  • England
  • Netherlands
  • Scotland
  • New Zealand

In England, PIPS is the most widely used on-entry assessment.

PIPS was introduced to Australia in 2001.

By 2005, it was being used in 592 schools with more than 20,000 students being assessed across Australia. This included more than 250 government, Catholic and independent schools throughout Western Australia, including remote schools and schools of the air.

In 2012, more than 24,000 students were assessed with PIPS across Australia.

For 2013, we have nearly 600 schools registered. This includes:

  • over 150 Western Australia schools,
  • all government schools in the ACT,
  • all government and Catholic schools in Tasmania.

There has been an increase in the number of Queensland schools as well as numerous schools from other states.

Schools in the Catholic Education Office of Sale in Victoria's are participating in PIPS for the eighth year.
