Exploring the Pedagogical Applications of Mobile Technologies for Teaching Literacy

Researchers: Grace Oakley, Mark Pegrum, Robert Faulkner, Michelle Striepe

This report summarises the findings of the project, Exploring the Pedagogical Applications of Mobile Technologies for Teaching Literacy. Conducted in 2011-2012, the study investigated the use of mobile handheld technologies in the teaching of literacy, both in the English learning area and across the curriculum, in Western Australian independent schools.  The research was generously supported by the Association of Independent Schools of Western Australia (AISWA).

The study resulted in the formulation of nine ‘considerations’ and associated recommendations to guide educators when using mobile technologies for teaching literacy. A professional learning network, MLearnWA, was also established as part of this study.
